We are excited to officially announce that the blueroot company is putting down temporary roots at Pepper Place.
When California native, Jennifer Ryan, and her husband Mike moved to Birmingham for his sports medicine fellowship two-years ago, they assumed their time here would be short-lived. Soon after, she began to notice the lack of healthy and quick eateries in town. She was perplexed by the gap given the town’s culinary talent as well as the thriving local ecosystem of farmers.
As many do, they fell in love with Birmingham’s charm, warmth, hospitality, and opportunity. After she and her husband decided to stay in Birmingham long-term, Jennifer promised herself she would not only exist here, but also seek to make a local impact. So, she decided to dive head first into solving the problem she had identified and figure out a way to bring bright, delicious, and nutrient-dense food to the Magic City. On a mission to democratize locally sourced and beautifully prepared whole foods for the everyday Birminghamian, the blueroot company was born.
The blueroot company has been receiving a lot of local recognition, and for good reason!
The produce-forward menu, curated by two-time James Beard award-winning chef, Robin Bashinsky, highlights the simple goodness of whole, unadulterated foods. Blueroot rotates its menu frequently and seasonally, but a few crowd favorites are the Farmstand salad, The Green God, and the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Energy Bites – and be sure to grab a Not Your Mama’s Rice Crispy Treat as they can’t be missed. The menu is a seasonal love fest of the freshest ingredients available from our local farmers and sits playfully on the line between foodie and the health nut that plays off their tagline, “good food, pure + simple” – and that’s because the blueroot company believes its ok to be both!
The pop-up will be located in the Dr. Pepper Event Space with easy access from the Dr Pepper Building parking lot off 2nd Avenue South.
