The Pepper Place complex factors centrally into two exciting events coming in November. The Beermingham Brewers Collaborative (of which Hop City, GM, Stacey Chappel is a director) is organizing its inaugural commercial craft brewing competition, the Taste of Beermingham Invitational, which is occurring in tandem with its first fundraiser, a new music festival entitled Brewzapalooza.

The competition, sponsored by the Elyton Hotel and hosted by Hop City Beer & Wine Birmingham, will take place on November 12th and the beer entries will be available on tap at Hop City all week.

The highly anticipated contest will feature 16 breweries including many local favorites as well as several brewing stalwarts from around the southeastern region. Beers will be judged in four categories: Pilsner/Lager, IPA, Sour, and Stout. A best of show designation will be awarded to one of the category winners.

Hop City will also serve as the hospitality zone for Brewzapalooza, where sponsors may exhibit alongside guest breweries. The music event itself will take place at two of Birmingham’s favorite Breweries: Back Forty Beer Co. Birmingham (Sat. Nov. 13, from 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM) and Avondale Brewing Co. (Sun. Nov. 14, from 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM).

In all there will be 15 bands including many local favorites such as: Jimbo Mathus, Dexateens, The Blips, Dead Fingers, Dree Leer, Red Harp, Cash Langdon, and GT. For a complete schedule of events or to purchase tickets you may visit brewzapalooza2021.com.
