Dahlia Intensive at Stone Hollow Farmstead
If you’ve ever been curious about Stone Hollow Farmstead or how to grow dahlias, this event is for you!
Stone Hollow Farmstead’s Dahlia Intensive will be a one-day course with two dates available:
MARCH 4th 2023 or MARCH 11th 2023
Deborah Stone & Alexandra Stone Flowers of Stone Hollow Farmstead will lead two intensive classes on the art of growing dahlias. There is much to know!
In each day-long course, we’ll cover the art and science of growing gorgeous Dahlias in the hot humid climates east of the Mississippi, where we face a host of disease & insect pressures.
Today, Stone Hollow Farmstead is home to more than 150 varieties of Dahlias grown organically on our sustainable farm.
In this workshop — one designed for home gardeners who want beautiful Dahlias in their gardens, Deborah & Alexandra will cover the basics of tuber selection, planting, care & maintenance, pests & diseases, propagation & cut flowers, & also dive deeper into their methods for healthy growth & beautiful blooms. Classes are held in the propagation greenhouse where you will see two mother boards filled with future dahlia cuttings.
In addition to all the techniques for growing & caring for dahlias, Alexandra will share flower preservation methods along with arrangement & tablescape design.
Why is this happening in March?
So you will be ready to plant your tubers in April! We are bringing in some of Deborah & Alexandra’s favorite varieties of tubers for our workshop participants!
Each guest will receive 3 tubers of their choice to take home.
We’ll have a few extra tubers on hand for anyone who’d like to purchase more.
All supplies will be included, along with a delicious lunch & refreshments throughout the day. Guests will also each receive a copy of The Stone & Flower bound notebook on Dahlia growing & care.
